Abdul-Jabbar: Insulting Colin Kaepernick says more about our patriotism than his

If you have not read Kareem Abdul-Jabber’s op-ed article in the Washington Post, http://wapo.st/2byi7Hf?tid=ss_mail, please do.  It speaks eloquently about other events in our history similar to what San Francisco quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, has decided to take a stance against……racism, inequality, bigotry, and a whole host of issues that never actually achieved a resolution satisfactory to the public as a whole. “Black Lives Matter” validity of protest would never need an audience if the burning issues facing black, brown and other minorities dealing with second class citizenship concerns were addressed many years ago. Colin Kaepernick, like others before him, felt the need to speak out about the injustices they either see daily and/or experience at first-hand. Quoting Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."
